DENTON LOUDERMILL JR., a Kansas man wrongfully accused of involvement in the deadly shooting at a rally celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory last year, has died, his lawyer confirmed to Fox News Digital. The 49-year-old from Olathe was found dead Friday morning by his family, according to FOX 4 Kansas City.
Loudermill was briefly detained but never charged in the chaos that followed the February 14, 2024, shooting outside Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri. The tragic incident claimed the life of a renowned DJ and left more than 20 others injured, including numerous children. Loudermill was also falsely accused of being an illegal alien.
Following the incident, Loudermill filed lawsuits against three Republican Missouri state senators and a Tennessee congressman who shared social media posts that falsely implicated him. However, these cases were dismissed, primarily due to jurisdictional issues, as reported by The Associated Press.
Attorney ARTHUR BENSON confirmed Loudermill’s death, while another attorney, LARONNA LASSITER SAUNDERS, did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment. In a since-deleted Facebook post, Saunders urged the public to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.
“More details will be provided in time, but for now, we ask that you honor the family’s need for privacy as they come together to grieve this tremendous loss,” Saunders wrote, according to the AP. She emphasized that Loudermill’s final days were unfairly marred by stress caused by the false accusations that went viral.
“Mr. Loudermill should not have spent his final days burdened with stress and chasing down a lie that went viral due to the careless and heartless actions of a Congressman, Missouri senators, and social media influencers, who couldn’t be bothered to verify the truth before destroying a man’s life,” Saunders continued. She vowed to continue pursuing justice, stating, “If you thought we were determined before, you haven’t seen anything yet!”
The cause of Loudermill’s death has not yet been disclosed. His passing marks a tragic end to a case that highlighted the devastating consequences of misinformation and the need for accountability in public discourse.
