Authorities in Washington State have uncovered the remains of an 82-year-old grandmother, MARCIA NORMAN, buried beneath a shed and partially encased in concrete. The grim discovery was made after NORMAN was reported missing by her family on April 4, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO).
Relatives informed investigators they had not heard from NORMAN since April 1, and her vehicles were still parked at her residence. The condition of her home, including dirty dishes left in the kitchen, suggested she may have left abruptly, TCSO stated in a press release.
Detectives identified JEFFREY ZIZZ, 47, a handyman who had reportedly dined with NORMAN the night she disappeared, as a person of interest. ZIZZ had constructed a shed at an unrelated property in Olympia the day before NORMAN was reported missing. On April 9, authorities executed a search warrant, moved the shed, and excavated the ground beneath it, where they discovered human remains partially encased in concrete. The Thurston County Coroner’s Office confirmed the remains as NORMAN‘s the following day.
ZIZZ, who allegedly fled the state in violation of his sentence conditions for a prior unrelated child molestation conviction, was apprehended by Montana authorities at a motel in Missoula. He has since been extradited to Washington and is currently held in the Thurston County Jail on a no-bail hold.
As of Wednesday, ZIZZ has not been formally charged in connection with NORMAN‘s disappearance. However, he remains the primary person of interest in the ongoing investigation. Detectives are collaborating closely with the Thurston County Prosecutor’s and Coroner’s offices as they continue to gather evidence.
This case has sent shockwaves through the community, with authorities urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
